Your Data

Delete Your Account

Applies to the Ente Matrimony app and service

You can delete your Ente Matrimony account and the personal data associated with it at any time. This page explains the two ways to do it — directly from the app, or by emailing us — along with exactly what is deleted and how long the process takes.

01

Delete From the App

The fastest way to delete your account is inside the Ente Matrimony app:

  • Open the app and go to the Profile tab.
  • Tap Delete Account.
  • Choose a reason for leaving (or Prefer not to say).
  • Confirm with the one-time password (OTP) sent to your registered phone number.

This account is closed immediately and profiles you manage are hidden from all other members. Profile-only deletion remains available from Hide / Delete Profile in the Profile tab and has a 30-day restore window; account deletion is not restorable in the app.

02

Request Deletion by Email

If you no longer have access to the app, or you prefer to make the request in writing, email us at admin@entematrimony.com from any email address and include:

  • The phone number registered to your account.
  • Your profile's EM ID (shown on your profile), if you know it.
  • A statement that you want your account and data deleted.

We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder — for example by confirming an OTP sent to the registered phone number — before we act on it.

03

Delete Some Data Without Deleting Your Account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove specific data. In the Ente Matrimony app you can, at any time:

  • Delete photos: open your profile, choose a photo, and remove it. Deleted photos are removed from our storage.
  • Delete your horoscope document: remove an uploaded jathakam from your profile's horoscope section.
  • Edit or clear profile details: update or remove information such as education, career, family, and lifestyle fields from the profile edit screen.

For anything you cannot remove in the app — for example chat messages or visit history — email us at admin@entematrimony.com describing the data you want deleted, along with your registered phone number. We will verify the request and delete the data, except where we must keep it for the legal reasons described in section 05.

04

What Gets Deleted

As soon as you confirm, your account is closed, you are signed out on all devices, and your profiles are hidden from every other member. Your email address, notification tokens, and family-access invitations are removed straight away. Permanent deletion of the remaining data then normally completes within 7 days, covering:

  • Your profile and all profile details (name, date of birth, community, education, career, family and lifestyle information).
  • Your photos (including thumbnails and blurred previews), selfie verification images, and horoscope documents.
  • Your matches, interests, chat messages, blocks, and visit history.

If you register again with the same phone number later, your old profile, chats, matches, photos, and messages are not restored in the app.

Active subscriptions are managed by Google Play or the App Store — deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription, so please also cancel it in your store account to avoid further charges.

05

Restore Window & Retention

  • Account deletion: your account is closed after OTP confirmation, profiles you manage are removed from active app surfaces immediately, and permanent deletion of profile data, photos, and messages normally completes within 7 days.
  • Profile-only deletion: deleting a single profile hides it immediately and keeps it recoverable for 30 days before permanent deletion.
  • Deletion record: after your account is closed we keep a limited deletion record — your registered phone number, the deletion date, and any reason you chose — for up to 12 months, to prevent fraud and handle security issues, disputes, and legal requests. It is then removed.
  • Reported or held content: if a profile or conversation was reported or placed on legal hold, we may preserve the relevant records for safety review or lawful requests instead of purging them on the normal schedule.
  • Limited retention: we may keep certain records where the law requires or permits it — for example payment and tax records, registration and security logs, fraud-prevention records, safety reports, legal-hold evidence, or information needed for dispute resolution — as described in our Privacy Policy. Data in backups may take up to a further 90 days to be fully removed.
